The Hours in Between

Studio work at Portal, for Bark & Ride, 2024

Strategy:

The service partners with apartment buildings and shuttles residents’ dogs to real parks. The bet was the building as the customer, and a dog van that feels like an airline.

Design:

Identity, brand book, booking app and lobby signage. Ticketing borrows from airline boarding passes, down to a named passenger and a seat on the shuttle.

Leadership:

Portal held the seat and published it as studio work. Pre-funding work: the identity, the app and the signage were built to raise on.

Product in Hand

Boarding pass for a dog.

A ticket with a named passenger and a seat, in a leather wallet debossed with the crest. The app counts down to the next pickup. Nothing else winks.

Three app screens: a countdown to the next ride, a dog profile with weight and walking stats, and an exercise dashboard

Product in Life

The afternoon, handled.

The day it sells: you book a seat from the lobby on the way to work, and the van brings the dog back tired.

Identity

Tan on navy.

The monogram foiled gold on navy paper, the dog crest on a hoodie and a phone case, and an insulated vest with the crest across the shoulders.

Product in Culture

A building full of dogs.

Apartment buildings filled with dogs while everyone worked from home. Then the office took the people back. The nearest yard is a drive away, and the workday is the product.
